My husband and I just finished selling our fifth home, it was our fourth flip. Some of the flips were more intense than the others. This flip was mainly cosmetic with a few structural changes, but it is amazing what you can do to update a home. One of the main spaces we really transformed was the kitchen. When we first moved into the home the kitchen had full cabinets and they were the original wood color, it had a black track lighting fixture, and it had a half wall separating the kitchen and the living room. After we fixed up the kitchen we added new chandeliers that I absolutely love! A huge passion I have is using antique finds by mixing them into my modern farmhouse spaces.
Antique Crystal Chandeliers
In a later post I will do a whole kitchen update on what we did, but today we are talking about the chandeliers. So we took down the kitchen track lighting because we knew were wanted to hang some antique chandeliers in here. I love the look of the antique bronze chandeliers with the crystal embellishments. However, if you go into an antique shop and look for one of these antique chandeliers you are going to pay a lot more for them. So, I want to share with you how I found these two at a very affordable price!
Where To Look
To find an antique chandelier that is affordable, or what I like to call simply “a good deal”, then I would recommend looking second hand. The best place I have had the best chances of finding an antique chandelier has been the Facebook Marketplace. If you just look in the search bar in your Facebook marketplace for crystal chandelier then you will have some options in your area I’m sure. You might have to look for awhile before you find the one for you. When I am on the search for something I usually search once in the morning and once at night. Hopefully, what you are looking for will pop up soon.
Both of the chandeliers in our kitchen I found from the facebook marketplace. The one on the left I found right away in my search and completely fell in love with it. It was $50 and definitely a steal of a deal. The one of the right took me a couple months to find. I was originally looking for a matching chandelier, but when I saw this one and it was the same style so I got it. The smaller chandelier actually worked nicely for this space because it was more of a walk-way than where the other chandelier is. We had an eat-in kitchen table, but I always thought an island would look really good here. Especially with the two separate chandeliers instead of the usual one chandelier over a table. Overall I really loved this look and I am looking forward to our next chandelier search in the next house.
