Faux Flowers
Hey Friends! I could not be happier that the sun in shining! The public pool just opened up around here and we have been living at the pool and they even have a little beach front space off of the lake that Amelia has been loving! I wanted to bring some sunshine into our home. You guys know I am always finding new goods from the thrift store and when I saw this beautiful sunflower bouquet already in this watering can I knew it would be the perfect summer touch to add to our home. I am surprised at how real these sunflowers actually look, too. I usually don’t add that much yellow or color in general to our home so these sunflowers added so much warmth and freshness that we all really appreciated. So, item number one to look for at the thirft store is, faux flowers. If you have never bought faux flowers from the store, let me tell you, they add up quickly and can become an investment. I have been shocked at the faux flowers that I have found at the thrift store for an average of the price as retail stores. The thrift stores I go to do a really good job about trying to have faux flowers that are directly for the season we are in. So, this is an easy item you can look for.
Watering Cans or Vases
A running joke me and my family have is, “nothing is safe from being a vase at my house”. Honestly though, I love using interesting pieces as vases for flowers. I especially love watering cans though. They are perfectly a farmhouse style that I love, and they just scream spring and summer to me. They are starting to be harder to find, and when you do find them they can be marked up which is a bummer. However, I still snag them if I think it is a do-able price because I love them that much.
Chandeliers or Lighting
Something you don’t often think of looking for at the thrift store is a chandelier or lighting in general. I have been shocked by some of the lighting options I have found at the thrift store. There are so many ways to update old lighting fixtures too. For example, painting it, or another idea would be to add some crystals onto it. The chandeliers we have here happen to be from the Facebook marketplace which another great way to look for them.
Antique Pieces
I am always on the hunt for antique or vintage pieces when I go thrifting. I usually have a list of items I am searching for. One of the items always on my list is old cabinets. I love items that give beautiful storage making them beautiful and functional. We had this open space in our kitchen that I just knew a fun cabinet would fit perfectly in. So, when I saw this wood cabinet at the thrift store for only twenty dollars I threw it in my cart as fast as I could. These things go so quickly at our local thrift stores. The one happened to be on the bottom shelf and all I could see was a tiny little piece of it. Cabinets are also great in bathrooms or even hallways. I love when they are glass in the front so you can display a fun collection or put pretty jars of items in.
Thrift Store Kitchen Items
You guys, I have a problem. I love all kitchen items. I am always looking for wood spoons, wood bowls, cutting boards, milk glass, cake stands, vases, pitchers, ball jars, copper pans, etc. There are several options of items you can look for at the thrift store. I just make sure I clean everything really well which always makes it feel like it’s now mine.
Have Fun Thrift Shopping
It is always so much fun making your house your home. A lot of the time something that I have thrifted will really inspire me on how to decorate a whole space. I hope this list of items helps you next time you go to the thrift store or gives you some new ideas of what you could be looking for.
