Do you want to know what the most important thing to keep in mind when you are decorating your home is? That you love it, and that it works for your family! Not that it is the perfectly styled home, the most in style home, the fanciest home, the (insert whatever lie your have told yourself that your house has to look like). That is not what home decor is all about.
Home decor should be expressions of who you are. I work really hard to use the items that I love. That way when that “in style” chair just so happens to be going “out of style” it won’t matter do me because I love it!! Who cares if it is “out of style” if it makes me happy I keep it. The only reason we even care if it is “out of style” is because we start to compare our home to someone else’s.
Don’t Get Caught Up In the Comparison Trap
You can.not.compare!!! You can not compare your home to someone else. We all live different lives, and our homes all meet different needs for our families. You have to use your home to create spaces that work for your family.
Add Value To Your Home Inexpensively
Another point I want to make is that you do not have to spend a lot of money to find value in your home. Home decor can be found inexpensively. Thrift shopping is a great way to add value to your home in an inexpensive way. Sometimes you will find things that don’t need anything fixed on them like this metal shelving unit I found. I now use it like opening shelving for some of my collections. Or like this new chair I just found a couple days ago. It is absolutely perfect! The color and the size are both great. I can’t get over how cute the tufted back is. This chair was only $9.99 which is such an amazing deal.
Don’t forget to share your thrifted finds with me using the hashtag #chronicthrifters on Instagram and tag me @homechroncles so I can make sure I see it! I can’t wait to see what you guys find!
