I had so much fun sharing my Thanksgiving tablescape with you guys that I thought it would be just as fun. Well, actually more fun because I have added a few new goodies to the area. I am hosting Christmas this year and so I wanted to get my tablescape all put together and ready for my guests.
Don’t even ask me what I am cooking yet because I won’t have an answer for you. I’m sure something will come to me soon. Aka I will go on Pinterest and find way to many recipes I will want to make, but won’t have enough time to do all of them. So I will have to simplify the menu. I am an avid over-planner!!
Anywho! Back to the topic at hand, my Farmhouse Christmas Tablescape. It all started with this gorgeous bouquet of flowers. I was given these flowers to congratulate my family on becoming the next senior pastors of our church. Well, my hubby is the pastor, I just support him however I can. I am so proud of him.
I am in love with boxwood right now. I used it to make my wreath here, and now I am using it to be a filler with these flowers. Home decor tip- this bucket is way bigger than I needed, but I love the height it brings to the table. So, to put the flowers in there I grabbed a bunch of plastic grocery bags and stuffed the bucket half full with those. For the boxwood I just went to our front yard where we have a couple boxwood bushes and snipped some pieces off. To fill up the bucket I just made a circle of boxwood sticking out of the sides. Next I grabbed a ball jar and filled it with some water and put the floral bouquet into it. After I carefully places the ball jar with the flowers into the middle of the bucket I just moved the boxwood around until it looked full.
I love the vibrant colors in the bouquet! I used neutrals and little pops of metallic golds and silvers around the bouquet. The bouquet is the star of the show here and I wanted to make it shine.
I am so glad I moved our dining room into this room. We hardly ever used this formal living space, and our dining room just felt a little crammed. Now, we have lots of room.
I wanted a real farmhouse feel in this room so I brought in our seven foot wood bench, warm wood stool, jute rug, vintage pieces, and then pops of texture.
I brought in several different vintage pieces to put on this industrial shelving unit. My milk glass collection, wood rolling pins and spoons collection, some of my ball jar collection, and some of my ironstone plate collection all found a cozy home here.
It is so fitting that I am writing this blog today because today is Shane and I’s seven year anniversary! This gold ornament here was the wedding favor we gave away at our wedding. We gave away gold, red, and silver ornaments just like this one with a piece of ribbon. Thankfully, we had bought tons of them so now I get to use them in my Christmas decor. To hold the ornament up right I used this antique dough cutter. I have a set of these so I was able to use one for every place setting. I topped off the look with a little sprig of boxwood.
Now that my table is all ready, all I need is to figure out my menu. I do know for Christmas Eve I am going to make homemade chicken noodle soup. My hubby always had homemade chicken noodle soup, and I happily continue the tradition. Who doesn’t like chicken noodle soup with homemade noodles. Yum! I am still going to go on Pinterest to find a couple sides and maybe a festive dessert. I hope you guys are enjoying finishing up the last details for Christmas.
I know I still need to “deck the halls” for the guest room! Hint hint for what’s coming up this week.
