We had our first little flurry of snow, and it just brought all of the holiday season spirit with it. To be honest, I was loving having a clean uncluttered home after putting my fall decorations away. But once that little flurry of snow hit and after going to see the new Grinch movie my holiday spirit is is full swing. I am loving a simple neutral look right now with lots of layers, that’s my goal for this years Christmas decorations. I also want to add in some mixed metals to add a little spice into the look.
In my Instagram stories I asked you guys if you would like to see more DIY projects. There was an overwhelmingly response with the answer being, “yes”. So, I am trying my best to get out as many DIY tutorials for you during this holiday season. I was inspired to make these cute paper Christmas trees after seeing @Lizmarie’s dining table. She has some little Christmas trees on it, I don’t know where they are from, but they inspired me to make my own. I think they are just the cutest things ever so of course I had to share it with you all! It turned out to be a very simple DIY project that didn’t take very long to make at all. They are the perfect addition to you Christmas decor, too!
Paper Christmas Tree Tutorial
What You’ll Need
- Wood Disc
- Book Pages
- Wooden Skewer
- Scissors
- Hot Glue Gun (optional)
Tutorial
Grab the wood disc, I cut these ones from a small tree stump. You can find these at Hobby Lobby though. Then drill a small hole in the middle of it just big enough to poke the skewer into it.
Then grab your book and rip out a page of it. I used a larger book so my Christmas tree would be bigger. But any book will do. This book cost me a dime at a garage sale so I didn’t feel bad about ripping a page out of it. Now grab your scissors and cut your paper into a triangle. Then fold the paper back and forth in half an inch sections so that your paper looks like an accordion.
Poke a whole through the middle of the folded paper. Then with the larger side facing downwards push the paper onto the skewer.
And just like that you have a beautiful Christmas decoration to display in your home.
For this area I wanted to layer a lot of neutrals together, and to bring a woods and whites contrast to the space. I also wanted to use these Zuzuglow candles here in this space. So when we light them the whole house will just smell amazing.
I really enjoyed making these Christmas paper trees, and I hope you guys do too! I would love to see how you guys style your paper Christmas Trees! Please feel free to tag me in your posts @homechronicles on Instagram.
Make this now, or pin it for later!
