Since we moved into our new home, which was almost six months ago, I have been going room by room to make it what I want it to be. Moving into a new home can be really stressful. I just keep reminding myself that moving in and settling in just takes time. So I need to give myself grace, and just keep working one room at a time. It was time for my daughter, Amelia’s bedroom to get a transformation.
I completely surprised Amelia by changing up her room while she was at school. She was happily surprised by it when she came home. She always notices when I change something around in our home. I still have projects that I would like to eventually do in here like an accent wall or something fun like that, but again it just takes time to get everything where I want it to be.
Added Pillows
The first thing I did was grab some cozy pillows. Pillows instantly make a room or a space more comfortable. If you already have pillows on your bed then think about adding a new pillow cover. They are also a great way to hone in on a certain pattern. In this case I stuck with white pillow covers for the big pillows, and blue for the smaller pillows since the bedspread already had a pattern. But, pillows are a great way to try out a new pattern to see if you like it or not.
New Signs
These signs from my friends over at Pineandprairiedesign I just love the message they give here.
Added A New Bedspread
She has needed a new duvet for awhile and when I saw this one I just fell in love with the pattern of it. The pattern matches the plates I found for her plate wall, too. Adding this pattern gave such a cottage vibe to this room, it really inspired me when I started decorating the rest of the room.
Switched Up The Layout
I moved her enamel antique ironing board from the far wall on the left to the back wall right by her bead. Now it is acting as her side table. Just moving a few items around really helped give the room a nice refresh.
Added A Chair
This chair I added in here was one of the first pieces of furniture my husband and I bought at an antique store. The pattern has soft pastel green and pink in it that just scream GIRLS ROOM to me so I had to make it happen. Plus, it is very functional for her to use while she reads or puts on her shoes.
Added Seasonal Touches
I couldn’t give this room a refresh and not add some fall touches so I snagged a couple mum’s one white and one burnt orange. The burnt orange just pops against the dark blue. Adding a fall candle, and some fall fabric pumpkins really helped too.
Added a Plate Wall
Above her dresser was just plain and boring until I found these plates at the thrift store and fell in love with the pattern on them. So I grabbed them and made this plate wall. There is no rhyme or reason to how I styled the plates, I just sort of started sticking them up there wherever.
This room refresh was super inexpensive, and easy. It’s amazing what you can do on a small budget, but still get the look you are going for. Thank you all for stopping by the blog today, I can’t wait for what this week has in store.
