While I was unpacking our home I worked really hard to get rid of anything I did not absolutely love. I gave away car loads, and I am so glad I did. Getting rid of the items I didn’t love and ultimately didn’t use helped me so much while I was unpacking. I really wanted my kitchen to feel organized and functional. I am all about a good routine, and if I know that when I unload the dishwasher that I am going to have a place to put my cups instead of cramming them in the cabinet, it just makes my job a lot easier. So in the cupboards I thought out where I wanted everything for an easy function. I ended up putting the plates and bowls in the cabinet right above the dishwasher so I can just unload them easily. Are you sensing a theme here, I like easy.
In this little cabinet on the top to the right of the sink is where I stored our cups. It is right across from the fridge so that we can just grab a cup and get some ice water from the fridge. Below the sink on the right I only have a box with our trash bags in it. On the left side under the sink I only store the dishwasher tablets. I seriously don’t like clutter it makes me feel stressed. In the three drawers on the bottom to the right of the sink I store- in the top drawer there are napkins and a couple plastic grocery sacks, in the middle drawer is where I put all of our plastic storage containers for Amelia’s lunches, and then in the bottom drawer is where I keep all of my tea towels for the kitchen.
I love the functionality of the three bar stools, and I love that they don’t take up very much room. I found the two cushioned bar stools at a garage sale, and I found the one in the middle at a thrift store. In the cabinets in the island I have pitchers that I use for serving beverages, and also pitchers that I use for flowers. I also have a lot of items that I use when I serve a meal or want to stage a meal I made. Like antique spoons, antique dough cutters, wood circle slabs, table place settings, etc. In the cabinet on the bottom to the left of the dishwasher I store my baking sheets there.
This is what I have in the two cabinets above the utensils. My ball jar collection that I use often for drinks, or as flower vases, etc. My mixing bowls, and wood salad bowls. The two measuring pitchers I found at Ikea and I use them almost everyday for water flowers, or pouring water into our diffuser, etc.
Above the stove I haven’t put anything. In the cabinet to the left of the stove is my spice rack, and also some baking ingredients. In the cabinet to the right of the oven is where I have my cupcake pans, cake pans, and I also have a mixer in that one. The little top drawers on the bottom here are pretty much empty.
The cake stand that is housing my soaps right now is from my grandma who passed away a couple of years ago, I am so grateful to have this family heirloom. For organization of fruits I like to use baskets or bowls, it keeps the fruit contained and readily available.
This sweet girl right here just finished her first month of Kindergarten. I am still in denial that she is even in school yet, but she is doing so well, and is really loving it. She has already grown up so much in the last month. I am so proud of her.
This kitchen has so many windows and it gets so much natural light, I just love being in here. My island is where I like to keep all of my floral bouquets when I can.
This is actually a post with only showing half of my kitchen. The other half I am still working on, but will do a reveal on that side too whenever it is ready. I get asked a lot where our fridge is, and so I will show you with the next kitchen post. I am also working on a Kitchen Reveal Part 2 blog post where I will share the sources for my kitchen. Amelia is almost home from school, and I just made a big pot of chili so I guess I better go, but I will talk with you guys soon!
If you have tips on keeping an organized and functional kitchen please share them in the comments, I would love to hear them!
