Can I wallpaper on my own?
Yes! You most definitely can wallpaper on your own. I personally have done wallpaper several times on my own, it is actually a really fun process.
What do I need to wallpaper or put on a decal?
You will need, depending on the wallpaper type, wallpaper paste, a sharp knife, a leveler, scissors, a roller brush (if you do need to use wallpaper paste), a smooth edge (a plastic putty knife is what I use).
Is peel and stick wallpaper or wallpaper that you need to apply the wallpaper paste better?
I really wouldn’t say one is better than the other, they are both beautiful. However, peel and stick is easier to remove if you end up wanting to change out the style.
Will wallpaper ruin my drywall beneath it?
I can’t speak for everyone, but I have never had to replace the drywall from taking off the wallpaper. I have removed peel and stick, and also wallpaper pasted wallpaper.
How do I find what style of wallpaper will work the best in my home and fit in with my style?
Find a wallpaper print that, “sings to you”. When you look at the different wallpaper samples I’m sure there were a few that really jump off of the page at you and sparked your interest. Take these few options and think about these questions. Does it fit my color scheme? Is it my style of decor, farmhouse, cottage, modern, etc.? Will I get sick of this print over time? If it fits in your color scheme, or blends well with your personal style I say go for it! Or, maybe it doesn’t fit in well, but you think it will be an amazing pop of pattern or color!
Is wallpapering expensive?
Considering that other wall treatments can costs several hundreds of dollars I think that wallpaper is fairly reasonable. Obviously, it depends on where you get your wallpaper from. Some of it really is expensive, but some of it is very reasonable for the amount of impact it brings to your home. I have listed 16 wallpaper and decal options from Amazon that are all under $40. Actually, most of them are under $20.
