Hey you guys, I have always wanted a huge charcuterie board. There is nothing worse that wanting to impress your guests by making the worlds coolest charcuterie board so you buy all of the ingredients (way more than anyone could ever eat), and as soon as you try to layer them all so beautifully you realize you only can display a small percentage of what you wanted to present. Anyways, that was a long introduction of sharing that I have been wanting to make a huge charcuterie board that can fit all of the goodies on it.
Inspiration Struck
I found two of these old wood spindles from the electrical lines when we lived in our previous house. Thankfully, my neighbor had put them on the curb. I saw them and have had them for awhile now just waiting to use them.
Charcuterie Board Staining Process
I have never made a charcuterie board before. When the opportunity arose for me to work with Rusoleum the idea came to me to turn this old spindle piece into the charcuterie board of my dreams. Thankfully, Rustoleum has this stain and oil in one that is food safe. I love staining wood and watching it come back to life. Staining wood is such an easy process, and it just completely transforms your item. This wood was already very worn so I did not have to sand it at all. If you are working with new wood I recommend that you sand it so the stain can really get into the grooves. Since I didn’t have to sand my first and only step was to stain. I put gloves on and just used a piece of cotton to dip into the stain and rub into the wood. I love that the stain is a two-in-one with the stain and oil so you only have on step. I went for the color Hazelnut, and love it so much!
Styling Your Charcuterie Board
After you let your stain and oil dry you are free to use your new Charcuterie board. We used it to enjoy our lunch on our back patio. I had the best time styling it. Since we didn’t need a ton of room to put the food onto the board I decided to use the rest of the board to style the rest of our lunch onto it. I love that I now have this huge charcuterie board to use to host family and friends! It was such an enjoyable process thanks to the oil and stain combination from Rustoleum.
