Cozy corners in my home are my absolute fave! I think they just seem to add so much warmth and they just feel so inviting to me. I literally try to have a cozy corner in every single room in my home. Who doesn’t love a cozy corner to sit and read in? Or sit and do work in? Sometimes though it can be hard to find motivation to create a cozy corner or any space in my home. This lack of motivation can come from many things.
How To Easily Create a Cozy Corner
Sometimes we can all get intimidated to create a space in our home. I do it, you do it, we all do it, we let the fear seep in and make us STUCK. Yuck! (sorry for the rhyming, I have a six year old who loves Dr. Seuss) But seriously, who wants to feel stuck. Nobody, that’s who! Especially when it comes to our homes. Creating cozy corners in our homes can really add to the overall feeling of your home.
Let’s Get Un-Stuck Together
With these three simple and easy tools we can all choose to get un-stuck together. These are things that have really helped me feel good about my home with-out, again I say with-out spending a $1. Because lets be real, sometimes money is the reason we feel “stuck”.
1. Shop Your Home
You might have heard this before, but it works! Look through your home for that one item that just really inspires you. Every time you see this item you just feel inspired. Grab that and lets head to step two.
2. Move Things Around
Most of the time we already own the items we want. I know this from experience. I started taking my hubby shopping with me for a little bit because nine times out of ten I would show him an item I wanted and he would say, “umm I’m fine if you want to get that, but don’t you already have one at home that is almost identical?” I hated to answer him because he was right.
So, I learned to shop my home first. Of course there are times I am really looking for an item that I don’t already have. But, most of the time I can find what I am needing right at home. An item that have been sitting on my bedroom dresser for years could be just the item I was looking for. So move things around. Moving your furniture and/or decor around will instantly freshen up your rooms too.
3. Get Off of Instagram Or Get on Instagram
This might seem weird to say, but I’m serious. If you have an instagram or pinterest or facebook account that every time you look at it you just feel bad about your home either quite looking at their page for awhile or delete them all together. Now being jealous and being inspired are two majorly different things. But if you have an account that starts to make you discontent in your home quite looking at it. Maybe in a couple months when you remember where your worth comes from then you can go back and look at it.
On the flip side. If you are completely lacking inspiration you can go on Instagram or Pinterest or Facebook to find many home accounts that will definitely inspire you. Inspiration is such a good thing. Using the inspiration you find for your home can be so helpful. I am trying to share more home decor tips and tricks on my Instagram stories to help with inspiration. For this space I started with the cute berry basket. I literally had it in the closet in our guest room. If was just sitting there. I love this cute basket and so I used it to create this little potting station.
Please remember that decorating your home is a process. You don’t have to change everything in one day. Take your time and create the home you want for yourself and for your family or friends. I hope these three simple and easy how to get motivated steps help you guys create a cozy corner in your home. Or for any other space you are trying to work on.
