Last year for Christmas I had so many projects I really wanted to make, but never got the chance to. Once the holiday season hits it seems like it is over before you know it. It is such a special time to be with family and friends, and I want to soak it all in while I can. So this year I decided I wanted to start making all of the projects early so I can actually have time to make them and then share them with you guys. I hope that by sharing them early you guys will also have time to make them, too! Today I want to share how I made this whimsical wreath.
I knew I wanted a whimsical wreath this year or maybe even a few. The idea of what it would look like has been in my mind for awhile now, but when I went to Hobby Lobby to look for greenery I couldn’t find one that I liked so I decided to scour my yard to see what I could find. I ended up cutting off pieces from the pine and the box wood bushes we have in our front yard.
Thrifted Wreath
On the very first #hcthrifting series I am doing on my Instagram stories I found this patriotic wreath for $3.99. I always look for grapevine wreaths that don’t have any hot glue on them while I am at the thrift store. They are inexpensive and you can do so much with them. To see what else I look for while thrifting view this blog, What To Look For While Thrifting Series #1. If you can’t find one at a thrift store then I would suggest getting one at Hobby Lobby when it is on the 50% off sale.
Deconstruct The Wreath and Add The Greenery
I went ahead and took off all of the patriotic decorations. Thankfully they weren’t hot glued on so they were very easy to just take off. Once you have a blank slate its time to start adding the sprigs of greenery. I thought I was going to have to use hot glue to keep the sprigs on the wreath. Thankfully I was able to just poke the sprigs, sort of weave them, through the grape vine wreath.
The more the merrier when it comes to the sprigs. Even though I only wanted the bottom section of my wreath to be filled, I wanted that area to be full of sprigs, it just looks better if the section you are filling looks nice a full. You can go as high as you would like on your wreath. I just sort of randomly added the pine and boxwood sprigs until I got the look I was going for.
I like how you can see the ends of the sprigs, but if you don’t like that look just add the sprigs and then turn your wreath around and you won’t even be able to see them.
Voila
This project was so ridiculously easy. It seriously took around five minutes to make.
I would love to see the wreaths you guys make. Please feel free to share them with me either through a message or if you are on Instagram. Use the hashtag #myhomechronicles and tag me @homechronicles so I can see it.
Tomorrow I am going to style this wreath in my home, and I will show you tomorrow here on the blog and also on my Instagram stories.
