It all started with the pink chair . . . Do you guys remember when I found this table a couple months ago at Goodwill? Well, it kind of just sat here for awhile all alone with-out any chairs. We had an open house/house warming party a few weeks ago, and obviously this beauty needed some chairs to go with it. Literally the night before the house warming party I told Shane, my hubby, that we had to go and find some chairs for this table because it was looking so silly just sitting there. So we hopped in the car and headed to the thrift store to see what we could find.
My plan was to find some nice looking wood ones that all matched, and then I could paint them the Clary Sage green I’ve been loving right now. The color I painted my hutch that you can see in this post, Hutch DIY. But with our time crunch issue going on and the lack of matching chairs at the thrift store we decided to scratch that idea and go with plan B.
Plan B, okay we didn’t really have a plan B, but we did have to change our plan. We ended up grabbing the two white chairs at the first thrift store. We headed to another one where we found the wood one and the pink one. When we first bought these chairs I did actually plan on painting them all Clary Sage green, but once we put the chairs around the table I sort of fell in the with the different chairs together. I even liked the pop of pink, which completely took me by surprise. So for now, that’s where we are at. Who knows, next time I get the green paint out I might just end up painting them.
The open house was a blast, and I am so thankful to everyone that came and celebrated our new home that we have been blessed with. I truly want our home to be a place where people feel like they can always come to. A place where they can just chat, or get prayer, or get some good food!
For the open house I wanted to make a simple fall tablescape to display here on the table. I just love how everything just pops against the black table. I had a mum take a bad fall and a big chunk of it completely broke off. I couldn’t just let it go to waste so I grabbed the piece and broke it up into these little mason jars. The little sprig of rosemary with the piece of mum I cut off of the rosemary we planted in our front garden. It has been a little bit since I have used these strawberry baskets in anything, I just love the texture they add and I love how they are all different and unique in their own.
The hardest part about creating a tablescape is knowing where to start. I usually start with knowing what I want the centerpiece to be. Here I just used a simple white pitcher with some hydrangeas, and then I added the harvest cutout. So my overall theme came from the centerpiece. It set the tone for using neutrals, florals, and a light wood tone.
So when it came time for the plate settings I stuck with the same color scheme and started with the rattan place setting, then added a green charger, a white plate, the strawberry basket for a nice light wood tone, and then the florals.
Then I ended up adding my new blue glass cups, blue straws, and then the blue tea towels which kind of mixed up all of the neutrals.
I just love how everything pops against the black table, it makes it so fun to use neutrals because you can really see every detail against it.
And . . . we are back to the pink chair! I was cracking up on Instagram when I did a poll with everyone to see if they liked the pink chair or not. It was really a love or hate relationship with the chair. Some of you guys really loved it, and some of you really didn’t like it. I can see both points of view.
I love that the sunroom opens up right here by the table. I can just grab my coffee and then sit here in the morning it’s wonderful. I know I have talked about the sunroom before, but it was seriously a huge selling point for me when we initially walked through the home.
I am so thankful for this home, and I am having so much fun figuring out all of the spaces. Thank you guys for coming over and saying hi here, I really appreciate the love you all have shown me! I am also truly thankful that you are all so encouraging to me. Thank you for letting me have my own space to share at!
