When my hubby and I moved after we both graduated from college we ended up living in a town called Booker, Texas. It was a small town, but we loved it because it eventually became the place where we bought our second home, the one we called “The Brick House”. This was the first home where we put elbow grease, hard work, sweat, money, and tears into! I will share more about that home later, but for now I want to talk about this little antique shop that was literally in the middle of nowhere. We would have never have found this shop but my family lived an hour away from us so we would pass this antique shop when we went to visit them. I wish I had a picture to show you just how in the middle of nowhere this antique shop truly was. When we finally finished the renovation on our home, I drove down to the antique shop and bought a bunch of decor items to use in our new home. To this day, almost three years later these antique items I bought from there are still some of my favorite decor to use.
This miniature ladder I have sitting on the old school desk was one of the items I bought at the antique shop, and I have used this in so many different rooms, and have styled it in so many ways. It is just one of those pieces that can work in any room, and can have so many different functions. I was originally really drawn to it because I loved the wood and the galvanized metal combo. The crate in the chair was also one of my finds, and I love the color of the wood, and the distressed look the wood has.
I found this crate that I am now using as a side table for the bench, too. I have used this crate for so many functions too. Probably the main way I have used it, until now, was to store blankets and pillows in it. I was really drawn to the color of wood that was used to build it, and it is such a great size. Not to big, and not to small. The fact that it is a functional piece has allowed me to use it in so many different room too.
This super farmhousey stool with the plant on it is one of my favorite decor items. It just gives me all of the farmhouse feels, and I seriously want like ten of them because I want one in every room! Here I am using it as a side table for this chair. I love unconventional side tables, I like how they break down the tradition of a space, and add something new. The ladder behind the chair is another favorite, and it is the prefect size to house my comfy blankets on. I also got one of the wire metal baskets from the shop, and it is a staple in my decor too.
This arched architectural piece also came from their and I loved the distressed white wood. I love using big items as a statement piece.
The detailing on this bench just sucked me in. The white paint on the wood, and the rusty nails poking out. I just love it! I have used it as a bench on the side of our table, and it worked great there, it fit like a glove. I have been trying it out as our coffee table in this house because I can’t find a coffee table that I like yet.
Those are pretty much the goodies that I was able to snag from the antique shop in the middle of nowhere. I think I have loved all of these pieces for so long because they are neutral, wood, solid pieces, and they can all have so many different functions.
I was reminded of this trip I took to the antique shop, and the goodies I found it in because I just recently stumbled upon a great antique shop where I want to go and do another haul of items I can have for years to come. So hopefully I will be showing you another fun antique haul soon!
