Hello friends! This week has cruised right on along. Amelia is starting her third week of school. I am still completely in denial that my little miss is in school, but she is loving it so that’s all that matters. I will admit that it has been nice to get some time to myself to work on things. Like fixing up my home and finally starting to complete some spaces. My office for example, which is probably my favorite room in my home right now finally got some finishing touches. Since this is my office I really felt a freedom to make this room a space that I truly love to be in. So of course I used some, okay, I actually used all of my favorites decor items I love like chippy windows, baskets, vintage ironing board, distressed furniture, etc. I have learned about myself that if I do not love the look of the room I just wont spend a lot of time in it, and I am going to be spending a lot of time working in here. I know it’s not rocket science, but that’s just how I function. So in here I wanted to make a cozy room full of decor I love, and ultimately a space that inspires me.
To start in here I added this big chippy window, and put it against the wall. I had a feeling that this wood bench, that I scored for free awhile back would fit perfectly in front of it, and thankfully it does. Most of you probably know that I love baskets. I just think they are beautiful and functional, the perfect combo. They add so much added texture to a space. So, I grabbed some of my favorites and started putting them up on the wall. You guys I have to confess something here. I am always encouraging people to try new things and use what they love and to not be afraid to put holes in the wall. Well, I was truly not looking forward to putting holes in our perfect-newly painted walls that have no holes in them. I really had to push through, and remind myself that we can always fill the holes in later. After I got over it, I was really pleased that I went with my gut and made this basket wall.
Ahh flowers you guys, I just love them. I can’t help it! I was shocked when I found out that the bush in our backyard is a peony bush. What an amazing surprise from our new home. However, these gorgeous guys are from my mother-in-law who has a whole row of peony bushes. They are truly a sight to see. She was generous enough to let me cut these to make a bouquet. I already can’t wait until the peonies bloom again next year. On mothers day this year for church we gave away geraniums and I was blessed to take some home. I didn’t even know what a geranium was, but after having them they are now one of my favorite flowers. They bloom like crazy, and then they bloom again, its wonderful. The flowers are so vibrant and beautiful.
I finally found the perfect spot for this vintage ironing board that I found at my new favorite antique mall. I was so excited when it fit this nook perfectly! It is one of my favorite places to style now. Whenever I get into a styling “funk” where I am just in a rut of not knowing what or where to style at, it always helps to get fresh bouquet of flowers. They just be a brightness and beauty to any space.
I can’t go on in this blog with out mentioning a wonderful small shop that is featured here. This “live joyfully” sign is from my good friends Jen and Christine from Pineandprairiedesign etsy shop. They are very talented and have such beautiful designs. Definitely worth checking out.
The beautiful Peony pillow on the bench is from my friend Miriam and you can check out her etsy shop here!
The candle in the crate smells so good and is from Gold Canyon, and they have an amazing fall candle that I burned through so quickly last fall.
This crate I am using on the desk is for sale on my etsy shop, and I will link it here!
The point of this blog was just to say that I was true to myself, in using what decor I truly enjoy in this room, and it worked out because I love being in here and I use it all of the time. I need to stick to using only decor I love so that I can feel this way about all of the rooms in my home.
This office has been a place where I can come and work on the blog. Or write our a prayer. Or talk with friends. It has truly been a blessing to me, and I am looking forward to the memories I will make in here to come. Thank you all so much for stopping by the blog, and seeing what I am up to. I really appreciate it!
